Meets every Sunday at 9 am in the Library

Some of us find it difficult to get to church on Sunday morning at 9:00 to meet with the Adult Sunday School/Bible Study group. The second best thing would be to follow the Bible Reading Program that the group follows and consider the issues that are discussed in that class. So the new thing is a folder on the bulletin board in the Narthex that contains the sheets we use to direct our reading and discussion. Pick one of those up on Sunday mornings after church and use it during the week.

Meets one Monday a month in the Library

Our Book Club meets one Monday a month to discuss books and life and life in books! Bring a sack lunch and join us at noon in the Library. Check the church calendar for upcoming dates.

For Men and Women

The group meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays each month

Meeting time: 6-7:30pm

Location: Church Library

Tarps and Seasonal Support for the Homeless

In addition to providing tarps for shelter, Ruby and Wayde (Paris) Wicker will begin handing out other items as the season dictates. (Think flip-flops in the summer and gloves in the winter.) Monetary donations may be placed in the offering plate. (Please write “Tarps” in the memo line of a check or on the outside of an envelope for a cash donation.)

1st Sunday of every month

Communion for the Homebound will be offered on the first Sunday of each month. Please contact the Church Office if you or someone you know would like to receive communion at home.

Second Fridays of the month at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary

Our Pinochle Players gather in the Sanctuary on the 2nd Friday of the month at 6:30 pm for a night of fellowship and fun. We will teach you to play Pinochle if you have never played before!

SWAG (Students Worshipping an Awesome God)

Fun * Worship * Music * Mission * Concerts * Outreach * Trips

SWAG Youth Group meets on Thursdays at 7 pm in the Teen Room. See you there!

Small Group meets on Thursdays at 7 pm in the Library

How is it with your soul?

How has God been working in your life this week?

How can we pray for you?

Who else can we pray for?

These little questions are the core of small group activity. A place to stop and reflect with others on our spiritual journey and growth. Currently one small group meets at 7 pm in the Library on Thursdays. It is our goal for the small group forum to expand. We are currently looking for someone who can lead a small group during one day of the week. Anyone wishing to participate in small groups, during the day or evenings, please contact Kathy Glass or the church office for more information.

Downtown Ministries

A collection jar for Downtown Ministries can be found in the Narthex on the 1st Sunday of each month. Fair Oaks United Methodist Church makes ongoing monetary donations to support Downtown Ministries’ many programs.

1st Sunday of each month is Food Drive Sunday!

Items needed: Canned Fruit, Canned Vegetables, Canned Tuna (5 oz. preferred), Macaroni and Cheese, Dry Beans, Rice, Peanut Butter (18 oz. preferred), Ramen-type Soup Mix, Cold Cereal, Canned Meats.

Chancel Choir will resume rehearsals on September 1, 2016 in the church Sanctuary from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm. We welcome all past members and encourage anyone who would like to join choir to come to our group. Contact Betty Karamatova at betty2392@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Tuesdays at 9 am

Jiffy Fixers have historically always met on Wednesday mornings at 9 am. It has come about where Wednesdays are no longer ideal for all involved. So as of July, we will heretofore (like those big words?) meet on Tuesdays at 9 am. All who would like to join us are welcome! Contact: Jim Allen

We rely heavily on our volunteers to make every worship service meaningful. Please help by signing up for one of the open spots on the clipboard located on the Narthex shelf. Don't worry if you haven't done this before! Here in the church office, we have many ways to help and support you in your worship role. Just ask!
